Hazardous Waste Transfer Station

Drop off center in France

Modulo Recycle
Two transfer stations installed by Modulo within 4 days and being used already. Both structures are located under the A86 motorway for optimized space use. Modulo was the preferred solution because it could be installed in a very short time as wells because of the special regulatory framework underneath the Highway. Owned by the National Authorities, and not by Local Authorities, fixed structures were not allowed.  The Local Community is leasing the area for the drop off center.

Recycling Site Remiks, Norway

Recycling Site Remiks, Norway

Modulo Recycle

Modulo was selected for the new environmental park in Tromsø. Tromsø’s population consists of approx. 71,500 registered residents. Including students, there are approximately 75,000 people in the municipality. There are approx. 29,000 households, each of whom receives a waste card with 6 entrees per. year. Remiks receives approx. 10,000 tonnes of waste a year. As it is growing Remiks there is a need to expand existing recycling sites. Tromsø’s former recycling facility was closed at the end of 2013. The site was old and worn out and had insufficient capacity. During the summer it was very common that there were long waiting lines and full containers. Throughout the winter 2013/2014, Remiks uses its recycling facility at the Ringvegen headquarters for both business and private customers. However, this site did not have the capacity to handle Tromsø’s waste during the summer period, and a new solution, therefore, was necessary. Remiks has looked at a number of alternative sites and site solutions and it was decided to go with a site location which ultimately could happen to be a temporary site. The site is located in the current ‘Miljøparken’, where Remiks already has other activities.

The Modulo site was implemented in two phases; This to keep it open while under construction as well as to spread costs over 2 years. Remiks also noticed this allowed them to gain more experience and to make adjustments as needed. During the first phase a100 modules Modulo solution was installed with a module height of 2.4 m facilitating 12 bins. The ramps are located at each end of the solution, and the traffic is unidirectional. The plan is to adapt the area under the modules various purposes, such as storage of recyclables, tools, etc. The next phase included expansion with 80 modules in 2015 to make it longer and wider and facilitating > 20 different recyclables fractions. In addition, the site facilitates receiving garden waste, construction waste, and included containers that can be closed to protect the more valuable recyclables.

We have only received positive feedback from both employees and users!

We wanted a solution with great flexibility. During the initial phase, we were contacted by Modulo Concrete, and after hearing more about their modular solution, we quickly became convinced that this was the right solution for us.
It was very crucial for us to be able to establish a new and user-friendly recycling space in a relatively short period of time. For this site, from signing the agreement to installation completed it took just 12 weeks!
Furthermore, it was very crucial for us to get a very flexible solution, as we are planning to expand over the coming few years. The flexibility of this Modulo system makes it easier to allocate/spread costs over your years. Eg. we are not obliged to immediately do electrical work, water, and sewer. This can be done on an as-needed way. Last but not least, the price also was very important making up our minds: another good reason for choosing Modulo.

It is very easy to operate the recycling facility, both for users and for employees. It is easy to operate and guide users, and there is a good overview of the entire area.

One of the first days we were actually contacted by the employees at the square, which experienced a problem that the users did not want to leave the recycling center! After they were done dropping off the recyclables they tended to stay, talking, wandering around, and praising the place.

So on our end, and based on the experience we have so far, we can safely recommend a Modulo Concrete solution to others wishing to establish a new recycle space. “

Modulo Recycle

Nyborg Supply decided to expand its existing recycling facility in Ørbæk. The significant upgrade included ao washrooms an elevated platform.

” When it was apparent we needed to change, Modulo became the preferred supplier. Its modular solutions provide unlimited possibilities to change, adapt, grow. It is simply the best, smartest and most economical solution over the lifetime of these types of projects since it allows for quick changes without a lot of work and you do not have to demolish anything.

We are very excited about a split level solution: it allows our residents to dispose of their recyclables very easily”says waste manager Søren Littrup Kristensen.

The recycling center in Ørbæk services approx. 6,000 citizens a year, and as the space was outdated and the residents and employees were struggling.

In addition to more space and better traction, we were able to separate truck -and other traffic, ensuring improved safety for all working/ visiting the site.

The brand new fully refurbished recycling facility was completed in the summer of 2013 and has created a lighter / better working environment for both visitors and employees.

Employees have improved working conditions in terms of better facilities and heated facilities. “Before we had no heating, no doors in our locker room, which meant we always froze when we were at work. With the new Modulo solution, we were able to heat those facilities we wanted to heat, including in the kitchen, offices and hazardous waste management.

Our space for hazardous waste storage also has dramatically improved. Now we are able to offer citizens better handling of hazardous waste and other recyclables: it is organized, safe, clean and clear.

All in all, we have now got a much more user-friendly and modern recycling space, which has so far accommodated all our wishes and needs for a new recycling facility – and in addition, at a relatively low budget”.

There is always a need for a change, even when it comes to waste management. Modulo was the preferred partner, since their solution, without a doubt, was the most valuable and affordable one! – Søren Littrup Kristensen, waste manager Nyborg Supply, Ørbæk ”

Recycling Station

Recycling Station Guderup, Danmark

Modulo Recycle

Guderup recycling site is a good example showing that it is possible with relatively low investment to get an upgraded drop off site turning it into a more modern site, In addition, a very short construction period was established: installation took just a few days. The site is built on a landfill. The current paving in SF Stone has been there for years and using the Modulo concrete solution, Sønderborg Supply saved a lot of money by placing the modules directly on the existing pavement.

The Modulo platform is build on the existing SF stone paving and was assembled in 3 days. The space consists of 37 modules with safety stairs, ramps, guiding rails, doors, and stairs. Modulo supply included the supply and install of triangular modules. The triangular blocks ensure an even smaller footprint for the Modulo solution.

The Modulo solution was significantly cheaper as compared to pour in place, specifically since the site was installed at a former landfill site.

Guderup recycling station has more than 25,000 visitors a year, and the old space simply became too small and insufficient. The solution was to buy a piece of neighboring ground and build a new elevated platform or to improve the existing site. Modulo was the preferred solution since it was cheaper as compared to pour in place and provided significant benefits as well. Our goal of modernization has been to provide better customer service and make it easier for Guderup’s citizens to get rid of their waste and recyclables. We have only received positive comments from the citizens who think it is much easier to get along with the waste now. ”

Recycling Station

Arden, Danmark

Modulo Recycle

Description

A solution that matches the needs

Joint Combustion I / S, which includes to operate recycling sites for Mariagerfjord Municipality, chose to establish a completely new recycling site in Arden.

The municipality already had an existing older facility in Rostrup at the time, but as it was located in a protected nature area, and unfortunately it was not possible to modernize / improve it.

It was therefore decided to build the new recycling site on Myhlenbergvej in Arden, and this project included all the improvements that came from the experience of the similar projects.

This time the lower platform is a combination of lower and higher with higher Modulo elements, which serve as a workshop and garage for vehicles. The lower modules allow high containers to be used as railing. The low modules make it easier for the residents to shovel their concrete waste and rubble into the bins.

On top of the tall modules there is an office, lunch room, customer washroom and facilities that allow the staff to change.

Citizens have been very happy and satisfied with the new solution. It has become easy to get rid of its waste and recyclables

– Benny Eriksen, Afdelingsleder Genbrug Fællesforbrændingen I/S, Hobro

Better conditions for both employees and citizens

With the new solution it has become easy and manageable for the citizens to get rid of their waste. When they stand on the platform, they have an overview – and can review all the fractions.

The employees at the square have also had a good overview. With the new solution, they have become closer to the citizen, and can thus correct fault sorting before the waste smokes in the container.

Nowadays, you are thinking of a lot of working conditions for employees. This space not only provides employees with proper conditions – but also the citizens have improved conditions when they come to sort their waste. Now they can throw the waste into the containers, and not as before, upon the containers

We are very proud of our cooperation with Modulo concrete. They have been extremely capable and were able to adapt many of their solutions to our needs.

There is no doubt that we have been “test cloth” in the development of their solutions, which we are actually quite happy with!

Because of this we have been able to keep up with the process and they were able to adapt the way it meets our needs.
